Barberton studio

Cobalt pigment and wet oil on the workbench

The afternoon light shifts across half-finished canvases, old copper scraps, and brushes heavy with Prussian blue.

An open doorway

Evidence of making in the light

There are no polished gallery walls here. The smell of turpentine lingers alongside dried earth from the Barberton hills and tubes of oil paint squeezed and left on the table.

You have arrived while things are still accumulating. Examine the notes, watch the brush marks, and stay for a while.

Raw elements

Earth, rust and ultramarine

Pigment

Deep cobalt and lapis dust

Mixed directly on rough surfaces, the blue remains raw and physical, capturing the changing shadow of the studio window.

Assemblage

Salvaged zinc and copper patina

Old mechanical objects collected from the hills find their way into the canvas, oxidized by time and weather.

Ongoing series

The emergence of KYOS

Field Notes

Charcoal sketches, measurements, and thoughts recorded on torn paper beside the paint tubes.

KYOS Series

A body of work born from zinc scraps, mechanical symbols, and blue-green oxidation accumulating quietly on the studio table.
